Our Approach to AI Visibility Audits
Your business deserves to be understood accurately. The question is whether ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini actually understand it.
You know what your business offers, who your customers are, and what makes you different from your competitors. But that doesn’t mean AI platforms have the same understanding.
They may recognize your business while overlooking important services. They may describe what you do accurately but fail to recognize when your business would be a good recommendation. They may even associate your company with information that is incomplete, outdated, or incorrect.
That’s why I investigate more than whether your business appears in an AI response.
I examine what each platform understands, where its knowledge falls short, how it evaluates your business, and what its findings suggest you should address. All analysis is conducted in a private browser session while logged out of each platform to help reduce the influence of account history and personalization on the results.
The result is a documented investigation designed to give you a clearer picture of how your business is represented and a practical basis for deciding what to do next.

A Consistent Investigation Across Three AI Platforms
ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini can produce different answers about the same business. Relying on one platform may leave you with an incomplete picture.
I personally investigate your business across all three using the same structured questions.
Each AI Visibility Audit includes 16 questions per platform. The first 15 examine how the platform recognizes, understands, describes, and evaluates your business.
These questions investigate whether the platform:
-
Correctly identifies your business and its services.
-
Understands what your business is known for and who it serves.
-
Recognizes the characteristics that distinguish your business from similar companies.
-
Would recommend your business when someone searches for the services you provide.
-
Understands when your business would be relevant to a potential customer.
-
Identifies competitors it might recommend ahead of your business.
-
Recognizes missing information, makes assumptions, or expresses uncertainty about your company.
Using consistent questions allows me to examine differences between the three platforms and identify findings that deserve closer attention.
You aren’t relying on a single AI response to understand how your business is represented. You’re getting three separate investigations examined together.
Evaluating What the AI Platforms Actually Understand
An AI platform mentioning your business isn’t necessarily a sign that it understands your company correctly.
For example, it might identify your business and describe your primary service accurately, yet overlook other services that are important to your customers. It might recognize your industry but misunderstand which customers are a good fit.
Those distinctions matter.
I evaluate the investigation findings across seven scoring dimensions, examining business identity, products and services, customers and use cases, differentiation, recommendation understanding, accuracy, and consistency.
The evaluation considers what each platform understands correctly, what it misunderstands, what information is missing, and where its responses raise questions.
The purpose isn’t to award an impressive score. It’s to identify the strengths and weaknesses in how your business is represented and explain their significance.
Turning Findings Into Specific Recommendations
Knowing that an AI platform misunderstands your business is useful. Knowing what may help address that misunderstanding is considerably more valuable.
That’s the purpose of Question 16.
After completing the first 15 questions, I ask each platform to review its own findings and recommend specific actions your business could take to improve its visibility and likelihood of being accurately represented and recommended.
Each platform must explain why it recommends those actions.
This produces three separate sets of recommendations, each based on that platform’s investigation.
I then examine the findings and develop my own independent recommendations, drawing on the evidence collected across the investigation.
The completed report clearly distinguishes between recommendations made by ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini and those I develop as the analyst.
You receive both the AI platforms’ perspectives and an independent professional assessment of what deserves your attention.
A Separate Investigation When You Want to Know How You Compare
Sometimes the question isn’t simply what AI platforms understand about your business.
It’s why another business might be recognized or recommended when yours isn’t.
The AI Visibility Competitive Audit is designed to examine that question through a direct investigation of your business and one competitor you select.
I conduct a complete 16 question audit of each business across ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini, using the same investigative process.
Once the individual investigations are complete, Question 17 asks each AI platform to compare the two businesses based on its preceding findings.
This means ChatGPT compares its findings about both businesses, Claude compares its own findings, and Gemini does the same.
I then examine the results through a separate competitive analysis, comparing ChatGPT with ChatGPT, Claude with Claude, and Gemini with Gemini.
This approach helps identify differences in business recognition, service understanding, differentiation, recommendation relevance, and other findings without mixing the judgments of different AI platforms.
The investigation may reveal advantages for your business, advantages for your competitor, or areas where neither business is well understood.
The purpose is to find out how the two businesses actually compare, not to produce a predetermined winner.
Every Report Includes Independent Human Analysis
AI platforms provide the responses being investigated. They don’t make the final judgment about what those responses mean for your business.
I do.
I personally conduct the investigations, examine the findings, evaluate their significance, and prepare the completed reports.
That includes distinguishing between information a platform appears to understand correctly, statements that may be inaccurate, and conclusions based on assumptions or incomplete knowledge.
I also look at where the three platforms agree and where their findings differ.
My role is to provide an independent assessment that explains the evidence and offers recommendations grounded in what the investigation reveals.
I don’t assume your business has a visibility problem before beginning the work. The findings determine what belongs in your report.
That independence is essential. You need an accurate assessment of your business, not an argument designed to sell you additional services.

Better Information Leads to Better Decisions
You may already suspect that AI platforms are overlooking something important about your business. Perhaps you’ve seen a competitor mentioned in a recommendation and wondered why your company wasn’t included.
Or you may simply want to know how accurately these platforms understand the business you’ve worked to build.
Whatever prompted your interest, the value of an independent audit comes from replacing assumptions with documented findings.
You’ll know what the investigation revealed, where the platforms agree or disagree, and which actions deserve consideration.
